I did remember my password and it only took two weeks! Go me! I'm not quite a fungus brain after all!

So livejournal is down. Unfortunately for me I stored a backup of my Nanowrimo story and my novel in progress in there....
0.o
I really hope LJ isn't going to start regressing to its bad ol' days of a couple of years ago when it would crash all the time. But it's the first time in a long time I've had this many errors logging in. Hopefully it'll have resolved itself by the end of the day. Until then, just keep plugging away at the book and figure out someplace else to store a backup copy of it.
You know, in case my comp explodes.
(I am not in the slightest paranoid.)
I was going to be flippant and say you read kiddie books, but honestly I love books for all ages and was reading adult books as a child and both adult and children/teen books as an adult.
No, that's not what makes me a kid. The fact that I signed up for a GaiaOnline account does. Oh yeah, I have a Gaia. I even set up the journal thingie. I decided to play it like a roleplaying MMO and invented a persona and everything. There, while my Gaia name is Pysali, my roleplaying name is "Tragedy the Wonder Girl" and it's very silly.
Viva la silly!
So Qotd for the 22nd:
What's the most extreme weather you've been in? A memorable storm? Heat wave? Or something else?
While I have to admit, the lousy heat right now makes me feel like I'm perpetually melting, I'd have to say for worst weather it's a toss up.
Back when I lived in Arkansas for a few months I arrived right during their twister season and nothing like having your roommate call you up and tell you, "hey if that box in the kitchen starts to go off, go hide in the closet in my room with the animals" because you know, having a tornado touch down five miles from the house wasn't freaky enough.
Then when I lived in Arizona I arrived to a freakishly early summer that would keep getting hotter and hotter. It eventually got to 114 degrees early morning. It was so bad I was sick the entire time I was down there, really sick.
When I went on vacation to Texas it was a freakish summer. They were having locust issues, so I'd be driving down one of their long roads having to literally windshield wipe the little buggers off because it was like a miniature storm of tiny, splattering green bodies constantly going against the car. Ew.
Then of course I grew up in Rhode Island, land of the cast off storms. Usually we get the crap that's left over after a big hurricane has nailed Florida and the Carolina's. Between aggressive hurricanes, winters in the last few years that have dumped blizzard after blizzard it's been a wild ride. I haven't been around for all the rain they've gotten years past, guess I'm not lucky.
See I'm the kind of gal that would rather it be less humid and raining all the time as opposed to hot and muggy as hell. It's why I moved to Washington State. So far, all the "gloomy rains-all-the-time" predictions all my friends from back home warned me about really hasn't happened. Sure, there are the seasons where it'll drizzle on and off all day, but this place isn't exactly doing the rains-so-hard-you-have-to-pull-over extravaganza I've gotten used to all my life.
I like it. I just wish it'd rain more this summer. It did really nicely the first year I was here. :) I think I just need to get a nice air conditioning unit, something that doesn't "come with" out here. Or a large mass of fans I can situate in front of the fireplace so the cats and I can just lie there comatose all day.
So the Vox question of the day concerns favorite muppets.
I loved the muppets as a kid and hell, I own the first season dvd of the show. I remember owning a copy of this vhs tape that had two episodes on it. The first one being Vincent Price and the second Alice Cooper. I watched the hell out of that tape.
My favorite muppet is Sweetums. He's big, lovable and beautiful, even for a monster. I always wished I could have a sweetums as a kid. I bet he gives the best hugs. :)
I've just finished rewatching Slayers Next and finishing Samurai Champloo. Sooooo good.
*falls over from goodness*
The nightmares are starting again. Just long strings of images, usually pertaining to my family.
Last night I dreamed that two of my three sisters passed away and my family never told me. I found out by being offered an old job one of my sisters had for years via telephone. I flew down to see my family and right before I left my fiance died here. So the large rift between me and my family still existed.
My mother never said a word to me and just kept making food, my father, also just a shadowy presence in the other room. The only reason I knew he was alive is that I could still smell the reek of his alcohol soaked sweat. My brother was suicidal, my other sister unable to cope. All that time we never talked to each other and when I finally go back home my fiance is dead and my old family in shambles.
Ugh. I barely got a handful of hours of sleep. I really need to get over my family issues. You'd think moving across the country to live on the other coast and the fact that both sides have severed ties should be enough by now. Bah, who am I kidding. Family haunts no matter how far you go to escape if you let it haunt you.
So I got two invites for Vox. I sent to invites to Vox.
I am not the most holding back kind of woman.
:)
Whee! Yesterday Kin and I dinged 60 with our Night Elves. This is my first alliance 60. Now I'm happy and feel like I can say goodbye to my account for a while satisfied. I'm so not a "phat lootz" whore. My original goal was nine 60's, one for each class.
I've been rewatching The Slayers anime as well. The bf and I scanned through a bunch of the movies (Slayers Return, Great and Premium) and the ending of the second season (Slayers Next) and that was fun. I'm happy I discovered this fun anime a couple of years ago, but sad that I discovered it after all the Seasons, Movies and OVA's were finished. I wish it were more popular in the US, but eh, that's how it roles with Anime. There are so many to choose from each year that it's hard to keep them all popular because of how much of a time and money investment they become.
I'm happy the various anime subbing companies in the US are finally releasing whole shows in cheaper slimdisk format. I like having a choice between plunking down wades of cash every other month for a few episodes at a time or waiting and seeing if the whole thing gets slimdisked in a year or two.
Other favorite, or highly enjoyed animanga currently:
I was brought into the dark side of Manga with the No Need for Tenchi and All New Tenchi Muyo Series mangas and have been enjoying them. For fluffy harem space opera, they can be very touching and sweet at times.
I'm also thoroughly hooked, again thanks to the bf :), on Oh! My Goddess, both the manga (grrr when our local bookstore pick up volume 23?!?) and the first season of the new anime (whee just one disc left to get!).
I love Gunslinger Girl as well and hope that the anime does well enough out here that they possibly sequel it. As it stands the anime loosely (and in some cases closely) follows the first two manga in the series and then that's it. In my opinion the Manga is better, more tight and I really would love to see volumes three and four put into another 13 episode second season of anime. Especially because the manga didn't do that great in the US so they stopped at volume 3 and I don't get to find out what happens in the current story plot. (Seems like the author does big arcs over two volumes of manga) makes grasping motions. I've had to resort to Wiki for more details of what happens in volumes 4 through 6.
A friend of mine gave me copies of Samurai Champloo so the BF and I have been watching those. We'd netflixed the first three anime disks (up through episode 12) and we've just watched past that. I love this show and I'm happy to get to finish it finally. I'm pretty bummed that I stopped my netflix right as I was halfway through a bunch of anime. I've only got the last disk of Chrno Crusade to finish that series, I watched halfway through Scrapped Princess and loved it, I'm only two discs through the second season of Ghost in the Shell: 2nd Gig.
I'm a mess of too many animes half finished.
Today Kinotu and I are working our level high level night elves little bums off. I'm hoping to get to at least 59 or possibly even 60 today. This would make my third 60. :)
For background, current events, my female Night Elf Hunter Verdandi is currently three baby, teeny, tiny bubbles from 59. After that Kinotu and I are going to see how much rested state we have built up for the push to 60. I'm hoping with all the quest turn ins we'll have a goodly amount. At least enough to be able to play the complete a quest, turn in quest, push rested state a bit further along. It's hard enough leveling without rested state and the final push from 59 to 60 is sooooo long, I want it to go as quickly as possible.
My other 60's are both Troll females, one being the ORIGINAL Verdandi, a 60 Warrior and the other named Laufey, a mage respectively.
A lot of my push for this final level comes from the fact that I cancelled my account and only have until the 23rd to finish off any toons or questing I wanted to do. After that I think I'll be leaving my account shut off until the expansion comes out later in the year. The only other toons I was really playing anymore was a 41 Tauren Druid by the hippie name of Peacebloom (yes, after the plant) and a baby level 20 Gnome Rogue by name of Perch (yeah, I had to have at least one toon named perch) but I'm not really worried about them.
For the Tauren, I'm so sick of the horde zones that I've burned out a bit and I don't really want to play her right now and as for the Rogue, I fully intend to play a Blood Elf Rogue (and a Draeni Pally) with the expansion, so I'm not worried about leveling her up just yet, though I do plan to at least get to 40 for the mechanostrider mount.
That's all for now. Time to get back to Burning Steppes to do a bunch of the easy quests before heading over to Silithus for the last level push. :)
Nice Story GL for the last psuh :) read more
